FAQs about Dental Insurance

Do I need to find a different dentist that is a preferred provider for my insurance?

No! We are not “dropping” your insurance. We will gladly continue to provide you top quality dental care in our office, it will just be on an out-of-network basis. Many may find the out-of-network benefits are very comparable to the in-network benefits you’ve become accustomed to. We’ve found this to be true especially for preventative services

Can you tell me if my dental plan has out-of-network benefits, or what they will pay for me?

Unfortunately, no. With several insurance companies with numerous different plans within them, we have no way of knowing your specific benefits. You would need to check with your insurance company and specific policy.
We can, however, give you information about what you’ve paid in our office for your dental care.

Is there a “better” private insurance company I could use that you are a preferred provider with?

We’ve traditionally found that paying for insurance premiums privately is fairly expensive for the benefits you receive. We recommend considering our In-Office Membership Plan as a more affordable way to pay for your dental care. This also ensures the premiums you are paying go directly towards your dental care.

My employer offers this insurance to me, who am I supposed to see that will accept it?

You can still come see us! We are still accepting your insurance and will still file the claims, we are just no longer in-network. There are very few offices in the area that are still preferred providers, you may want to speak with your HR department to let them know they are providing an insurance that no one is in-network with.

  1. Dental insurance operates opposite of how medical insurance operates. With medical insurance you pay up to the deductible, then your insurance takes over. Dental insurance pays up to a certain amount (yearly maximum, usually $1000-2000). Once that maximum is met, your insurance covers nothing.
  1. Many insurance companies tell you they cover fillings, crowns, dentures, implants, etc. But when it comes time to pay, all too often they find a reason NOT to pay. It frustrates us as much as you when they don’t cover at least some of your treatment with premiums you’ve paid for, but we have no control over what they decide to cover and when.
  1. Our office of dental professionals will always recommend the best treatment for your specific dental needs. While we will always utilize your benefits to the best of our ability, insurance coverage should not dictate your treatment.
